Description

These Homemade Crescent Rolls are soft, buttery, and irresistibly delicious. With simple ingredients like flour, instant yeast, and potato flakes, this recipe guarantees a wonderful roll perfect for dinner or as a comforting snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups (372g) all-purpose flour (up to 3 ½ cups)
  • 1 packet Instant Yeast, (2 ¼ teaspoons or 7g)
  • 2 tablespoons (25g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup (177ml) milk
  • ½ cup (118ml) water
  • 3 tablespoons (42g) unsalted butter
  • â…“ cup (33g) Idahoan Potato Flakes
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons (28 g) unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, combine 1 cup flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Whisk to blend.
  2. Microwave water, milk, and butter until heated to 120°-130°F. Stir in potato flakes.
  3. Mix the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients with a dough hook for 1 minute. Add the egg and 1 cup flour, mixing for another minute. Incorporate an additional â…“ cup flour until the dough forms a soft, slightly sticky ball, adding more flour if necessary.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 4-6 minutes until it bounces back when pressed. Let rest covered for 10 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into two pieces, roll each into a 10-inch circle, and cut into 12 wedges each.
  6. Roll up triangles from the wide end to the point, placing them on a lined cookie sheet 1-inch apart. Cover and let rise until doubled (around 1 hour).
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F, brush the rolls with melted butter, and bake for 15-25 minutes until golden brown. Brush with more butter after baking.
  8. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze baked rolls for up to 3 months.
  9. For make-ahead, after shaping rolls, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Allow to come to room temperature and rise before baking.

Notes

Ensure your water temperature is precise for optimal yeast activation.
Roll tightly to achieve beautifully shaped crescent rolls.
Feel free to add herbs or cheese for a unique twist on flavors.
