Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs raw peanuts in shells
- ¼ cup salt
- water
Instructions
- Begin by sorting through the raw peanuts, removing any stray shells or debris.
- Rinse the peanuts well, then soak them in cold water for approximately 30 minutes. Drain afterward.
- Transfer the peanuts to your crockpot, adding the salt. Fill with water until there's about an inch of space left at the top.
- Set your slow cooker to high heat and allow the peanuts to cook for around 7½ hours, adjusting for your preferred tenderness.
- About halfway through, taste a peanut. If more salt is desired, add it and stir the mixture.
- Monitor the water level during cooking, adding more if needed to keep the peanuts fully submerged.
- After cooking, drain the peanuts and enjoy them warm or store them for later snacking.
Notes
You can adjust the salt based on personal preference for flavor.
For a spicy kick, consider adding cayenne pepper or chili flakes to the peanuts before cooking.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
