Description

Satisfy your cravings with this Spaghetti Pie, a delightful dish featuring layers of spaghetti, a rich meat sauce, and creamy cheeses. Perfect for a quick dinner or a comforting family meal, it’s packed with flavor and simplicity!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 ounces spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil or 1 tablespoon fresh
  • 1 pound lean ground beef or italian sausage
  • ½ small onion diced
  • 14.5 ounces canned diced tomatoes drained
  • 2 cups pasta sauce or marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a deep-dish pie plate.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the beef over medium-high heat, then drain the fat. Add the onion and cook for about 3 minutes until softened. Stir in the tomatoes and pasta sauce, then simmer uncovered for 10 minutes until thickened.
  3. Cook the spaghetti al dente in salted water according to package instructions. Drain well.
  4. In the prepared pie plate, combine the spaghetti with butter, tossing to coat. Stir in the eggs and parmesan cheese, then press the mixture to form a crust.
  5. In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with parsley and basil, then spread over the spaghetti crust. Pour the meat sauce on top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes. Add mozzarella cheese on top and bake for another 5 minutes until browned and bubbly. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Feel free to substitute ground beef with Italian sausage for a different flavor.
You can add your favorite vegetables to the meat sauce for extra nutrition.
Letting the pie rest before serving helps the layers hold together.
