- ½ teaspoon dried basil or 1 tablespoon fresh
- 1 pound lean ground beef or italian sausage
- ½ small onion diced
- 14.5 ounces canned diced tomatoes drained
- 2 cups pasta sauce or marinara sauce
Instructions

- Cook the spaghetti al dente in salted water according to package instructions. Drain well.
- In the prepared pie plate, combine the spaghetti with butter, tossing to coat. Stir in the eggs and parmesan cheese, then press the mixture to form a crust.
- In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with parsley and basil, then spread over the spaghetti crust. Pour the meat sauce on top.
- Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes. Add mozzarella cheese on top and bake for another 5 minutes until browned and bubbly. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Feel free to substitute ground beef with Italian sausage for a different flavor.
You can add your favorite vegetables to the meat sauce for extra nutrition.
Letting the pie rest before serving helps the layers hold together.
