Description

This Salmon Bowl is a delightful combination of tender salmon marinated in a zesty sauce, making it a perfect healthy dish. Quick to prepare, it’s ideal for a wholesome meal any day of the week.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound skinless salmon fillets cut into 1-inch pieces
  • ½ teaspoon salt divided
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 large orange juiced and zested (about ½ cup of juice and 1 teaspoon of zest)
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil divided
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional
  • cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon dry and season with ¼ teaspoon salt and black pepper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, orange zest, orange juice, ginger, and sesame oil. Add salmon pieces and toss gently. Allow it to marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté minced garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Using a slotted spoon, remove salmon from marinade (keep the marinade) and place it in the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2 minutes without stirring until lightly browned, then flip and cook another 2 minutes until just cooked through. Transfer to a plate.
  5. Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet, reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy. Reintroduce the salmon to the skillet and gently coat with the sauce.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over cooked rice.

Notes

Be cautious not to overcook the salmon; it should be just cooked through for the best texture.
Feel free to add vegetables like broccoli or snap peas for extra nutrition and color!
