Description
Pizza Skulls offer an irresistible flavor with a delightful blend of pepperoni, mozzarella, and savory pizza sauce, making them a perfect quick meal for pizza lovers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water, warm (95–110 degrees F)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1½ cups pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup pepperoni, cut into quarters
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl or stand mixer, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Mix well and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until frothy.
- Once the yeast has proofed, add the olive oil, salt, and about 1½ cups of flour. Mix until combined. Add the remaining flour, about a ¼ cup at a time, until the dough pulls away from the bowl edges.
- Mix on low speed for another 1-2 minutes until smooth. Transfer to a floured surface and roll into a rectangle for the skull cavities.
- Spray mini skull baking tins with nonstick cooking spray. Stretch the dough over the skeleton mold, shaping it gently with your hands.
- Fill each skull cavity with a couple of tablespoons of pizza sauce, ¼ cup of cheese, and chopped pepperoni. Cut the dough edges, leaving enough to pinch and close each pocket.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the skull faces are toasted.
- Remove from the oven and serve warm.
Notes
Allow the dough to rest if it is too sticky to handle.
For a fun twist, add your favorite toppings inside each skull.
Ensure the baking tins are well-greased to prevent sticking.
