  • ½ yellow onion, diced: Sweet onions add depth and sweetness to the overall taste.
  • 1 lb ground turkey: A lean protein that keeps the dish healthy but hearty; you can substitute with ground chicken or beef if preferred.
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste: Adds richness and helps create a luscious sauce.
  • 2 ¾ cups chicken broth: This boosts flavor—homemade or low-sodium versions are excellent choices.
  • 1-2 tsp balsamic vinegar: A splash adds acidity and depth, but you can swap it with red wine vinegar if needed.

  • Chopped fresh basil (optional): A sprinkle before serving brings freshness and a lovely aroma to the dish.

How to Make One Pot Ground Turkey Pasta

One Pot Ground Turkey Pasta
  1. Sauté the Aromatics: Heat a large sauté pan or shallow Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and let it heat up. Add the diced onion and sauté for 3-5 minutes until slightly translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for one more minute until fragrant.

  2. Brown the Turkey: Shift the onions and garlic to one side of the pan and add 1 pound of ground turkey. Let it sit for a couple of minutes, untouched, allowing it to brown; then break it into bite-sized pieces. Cook until no longer pink, and the internal temperature reaches just under 165°F.

  3. Incorporate the Sauce: Stir in 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, allowing it to heat for about a minute. Then, lower the heat to medium and add in the crushed tomatoes, 2¾ cups of chicken broth, 1-2 teaspoons of balsamic vinegar, the uncooked pasta, 2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning, and ½ teaspoon each of salt and pepper. Mix well to combine all ingredients.

  4. Simmer the Pasta: Bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta cooks through but is still just under al dente. If too much liquid is absorbed, add a bit more chicken broth as needed.

  5. Add the Cream and Spinach: Stir in ⅔ to 1 cup of heavy cream, ½ cup of grated parmesan, and the two large handfuls of baby spinach. Continue to stir until the parmesan melts completely and the spinach wilts. The sauce will thicken as it simmers.

  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped fresh basil if desired. Allow the dish to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving, letting the flavors deepen even further.

Storing & Reheating

To store your One Pot Ground Turkey Pasta, let it cool to room temperature and transfer it to an airtight container. It will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For longer storage, you can freeze it for up to 3 months; just ensure it’s in a freezer-safe container or bag. When reheating, warm it gently on the stovetop over low heat or in the microwave, adding a splash of broth or cream if the texture thickens too much. While the flavor remains delicious, the pasta may soften slightly after freezing.

Chef’s Helpful Tips

  • Avoid overcooking the pasta; it should be al dente since it will continue to cook after being removed from heat.
  • For best flavor, use fresh garlic and onions—avoid pre-chopped varieties when possible.
  • Give yourself some wiggle room with seasonings; taste during cooking and adjust salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning as you go.
  • Preparing this dish ahead can save time; just reheat with some additional broth or cream for optimal consistency.
  • Experiment with different vegetables; mushrooms, zucchini, or bell peppers can make a delightful addition.

It’s hard to resist the warm, comforting notes of One Pot Ground Turkey Pasta, with its delightful combination of creamy sauce, savory turkey, and fresh spinach. Whether you’re looking for a quick weeknight meal or something simple yet satisfying for your weekend gathering, this recipe has you covered.

Food is all about creativity, and this recipe provides a wonderful canvas for your culinary imagination. Don’t hesitate to add in your favorite herbs or even a splash of wine to boost those rich flavors. I can’t wait for you to enjoy this dish!
