Description

This mixed berry crisp features fresh strawberries and blueberries with a crunchy oat topping. It’s an easy and delicious dessert that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup (93g) all purpose flour
  • ¾ cup (64g) quick cook oats
  • ¾ cup (150g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoons (78g) cold unsalted butter, diced
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 cups blueberries, frozen or fresh
  • ½ cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons (24g) cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter until you achieve small crumbs. Set aside.
  3. In another large bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and blueberries. Gently toss them with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch, then place in the bottom of an 8-inch square pan.
  4. Spread the crumble mixture over the fruit filling and lightly press down to compact.
  5. Bake for 30-33 minutes until the crust is golden and the topping is crunchy. Serve warm or at room temperature, ideally with whipped cream or ice cream.

Notes

Let the crisp cool slightly before serving to allow the filling to set properly.
Feel free to use frozen berries if fresh ones are not available, as they work well in this dish.
For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the crumble mixture.
