Description

Mississippi Chicken is a fantastic dish featuring tender chicken breast simmered in a zesty blend of ranch dressing and peppers. With simple prep and irresistible flavors, this meal is perfect for a quick dinner or a cozy family gathering.


Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 6 to 12 peperoncini peppers
  • 3 tablespoons liquid from the jar (optional)
  • 1 (1-oz) packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1 (1-oz) packet ranch dressing mix
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Spray a 5 or 6 quart slow cooker with cooking spray and prepare your ingredients.
  2. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and place it in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  3. Arrange peperoncini peppers around the chicken, adding a few tablespoons of liquid if desired. Sprinkle the au jus and ranch dressing mixes evenly over the chicken.
  4. Cut the butter into tablespoons and spread them evenly on top of the seasoned chicken.
  5. Cover and cook for 2.5 to 4 hours on HIGH or for 6-8 hours on LOW until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  6. Remove the chicken, let it rest for 10 minutes, then use two forks to pull it into chunks.
  7. Stir the chicken back into the sauce to soak up the delicious flavors and serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

For a spicier version, add more peperoncini peppers according to your taste.
Serve with rice or mashed potatoes to soak up the flavorful sauce.
This dish can also be made in an Instant Pot on high pressure for faster cooking.
