Description

These Homemade Caramel Apples are a delightful treat, combining fresh granny smith apples, creamy caramel, and your choice of toppings. Perfect for parties or a fun family activity!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 whole granny smith apples
  • 12 lollipop sticks, or popsicle sticks
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup karo syrup
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate wafers, white or milk chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 cup toppings, sprinkles, crushed candy bars, crystal sugar, etc.

Instructions

  1. Wash the apples to remove any wax by soaking them in a half gallon of water with 1 cup of white vinegar. Dry the apples completely using a dish towel or paper towel.
  2. Remove the stem from each apple and insert a lollipop stick into the top, about 3/4 of the way through.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the apples on top.

Notes

For best results, choose firm apples like granny smith that hold up well to the caramel.
Feel free to customize toppings based on your preference—use sprinkles, nuts, or crushed candies!
Store leftover caramel apples in the fridge to keep the caramel soft and fresh.
