Description

Creamy Garlic Parmesan Cabbage is a delightful dish featuring tender cabbage wedges seared to perfection, complemented by a rich garlic, cream, and parmesan sauce. This easy recipe is ideal for a quick, healthy meal, combining flavors that comfort the soul and nourish the body.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium head green cabbage about 2 lbs, cored and cut into 56 wedges
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon cajun seasoning
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley plus more for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add cabbage wedges, flat side down, and sear undisturbed for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  3. Remove cabbage to a plate and set aside.
  4. Lower heat to medium and add chopped onion to the same skillet; cook until soft and golden (about 5 minutes).
  5. Stir in minced garlic and Cajun seasoning; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Pour in heavy cream, scraping up browned bits from the bottom of the pan, and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Stir in Parmesan and chopped parsley, letting the sauce simmer for another minute until smooth.
  8. Return cabbage wedges to the skillet, spooning sauce over the top, cover partially, and cook for an additional 5 minutes until cabbage is fork-tender.
  9. Garnish with extra parsley and serve warm.

Notes

For added flavor, incorporate crushed red pepper for a spicy kick.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat on the stovetop or microwave carefully to preserve creaminess.
