Description

These Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls combine irresistible flavors with a simple preparation. Filled with warm apples and sweet caramel, they’re perfect for breakfast or dessert!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups water, luke warm
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 large apples, gala, honeycrisp, granny smith, or another tart and sweet variety
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted, or very soft
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup karo syrup
  • 1/2 15-ounce can sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Mix on low with a bread hook for 2 minutes until combined.
  3. Gradually add 3½ cups of flour and mix on low. Add more flour if necessary until the dough pulls away from the bowl. Knead on low for an additional 3 minutes.
  4. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let the dough rest in a warm place for about 30 minutes, until it doubles in size.
  5. Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface. Shape into a rectangle and roll it into a 24" x 12" rectangle, about 1/2" thick.

Notes

Ensure your water is warm but not hot to properly activate the yeast.
Feel free to use different types of apples based on your preference for sweetness or tartness.
Letting the dough rise in a warm area helps it to develop better flavor.
