Description

This Butterscotch Sauce boasts irresistible flavor and a simple preparation. With just a few key ingredients like brown sugar and butter, it’s perfect for drizzling over desserts or enjoying straight from the jar!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 tablespoons (84g) unsalted butter, sliced
  • 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup (118ml) heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Once melted, add brown sugar and heavy whipping cream. Stir until it boils.
  3. Once it reaches a full boil, let it sit without stirring for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt.
  5. Transfer to a jar and let cool before covering.
  6. Sauce will thicken as it cools. If refrigerated, it will become a soft solid. To reheat, microwave for about 30 seconds, then stir and use as desired.

Notes

Store the sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
This sauce is delicious over ice cream, pancakes, or brownies.
To achieve a thicker consistency, allow the sauce to cook for an additional minute.
