Description

Savor the rich flavor of Beef Tips featuring tender cubed beef chuck, savory onion soup, and a touch of Worcestershire sauce. This dish is a quick and satisfying meal that’s perfect for family dinners or a comforting night in, simple enough for any home cook.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast cubed or stew meat
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion chopped
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can beef broth
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed french onion soup or condensed onion soup
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • chopped fresh parsley for garnish, optional
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ⅓ cup water

Instructions

  1. Trim any fat from the beef and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat in a large pot or Dutch oven. Cook the beef in small batches until browned, then transfer it to a bowl.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining olive oil. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Return the beef to the pot with beef broth, condensed onion soup, Worcestershire sauce, and bay leaf. Bring to a boil, cover, and then simmer for 1½ to 2 hours until the beef is fork-tender.
  5. To thicken the gravy, mix cornstarch with ⅓ cup cold water, then stir this mixture into the beef slowly until the desired thickness is achieved.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. Remove the bay leaf and serve over mashed potatoes.

Notes

The beef chuck roast can be substituted with stew meat if preferred.
For added flavor, serve with fresh herbs like parsley on top.
Make it a complete meal by pairing it with vegetables or a side salad.
