Bang Bang Tofu is a quick and delicious meal featuring crispy tofu coated in a sweet and spicy sauce. It’s simple to prepare, making it a fantastic choice for a healthy dinner or a comfort food favorite. Enjoy this delightful dish served over rice with steamed green beans!

- 1 block extra firm tofu
- 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
- 1/2 cup mayo
- 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 clove garlic, grated
- sesame seeds and/or green onions for garnish
- 1–2 cups cooked rice
- 12 ounces green beans, steamed or sautéed
Instructions
- Tear the tofu into bite-sized chunks using your hands.
- Coat the tofu chunks with cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, and salt, using your hands for even coverage.
- Add soy sauce and oil to the tofu and toss to coat.
- Air fry the tofu at 350°F for 10 minutes. Shake or stir and continue to air fry at 375°F for another 5 minutes or until crispy and golden.
- Combine the sauce ingredients in a bowl and whisk together.
- Place the crispy tofu in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ¼ cup of sauce and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes to coat the tofu and caramelize it.
- Serve the tofu over rice, drizzled with remaining sauce and topped with sesame seeds or green onions. Garnish with green beans on the side.
Notes
For best results, use high-protein tofu from Trader Joe’s.
Adjust the sweetness and heat of the sauce by varying the amount of sweet chili sauce. You can add water to thin it out as needed.
