Description

Enjoy the delightful flavor of these Valentine 2 Ingredient Bagels made with just self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Perfect for a quick breakfast or as a fun snack, they are easy to prepare and absolutely mouthwatering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup plain non-fat greek yogurt
  • 1 egg plus 1 teaspoon of water (optional for toppings such as sesame seeds or poppy seeds)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix the flour and Greek yogurt using a wooden spoon until combined.
  • Once the dough forms a ball, turn it out onto a floured surface and knead it until smooth.
  • Ensure your hands and the surface are floured well to handle the sticky dough, adding more flour if needed.
  • Divide the dough into four equal pieces by cutting it in half and then half again.
  • Shape each piece into a log, roughly 4 to 6 inches long, and pinch the ends together to form bagels.
  • Arrange the bagels on a lined baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat.
  • Create an egg wash by beating the egg with a teaspoon of water and brush it on top of each bagel; add toppings if desired.
  • Bake in a 350°F preheated oven for about 22 minutes.
  • After 22 minutes, remove from the oven and raise the temperature to 450°F.
  • Put the baking sheet back in the oven and bake for an additional 3 to 4 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Store the bagels in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

Ensure that the dough is well-floured to avoid sticking during kneading.
Feel free to customize the bagels with your favorite toppings before baking.
These bagels taste best when fresh, but freezing is a great option for meal prep.
