Description

Savor the delicious flavors of this Tres Leches Cake, made with three types of milk for a moist, sweet dessert. Perfect for gatherings, this easy-to-follow recipe ensures every bite is packed with flavor, making it an ideal choice for special occasions or just satisfying your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, or substitute 1:1 gf flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 5 eggs, (large)
  • 1 cup sugar, divided into 3/4 and 1/4 cups
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 12 oz evaporated milk
  • 9 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 cup berries, to garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 casserole pan. Prepare three mixing bowls.
  2. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder, and 1/4 tsp of salt. Separate the egg whites and yolks into two different bowls.
  3. Using an electric mixer, beat the egg yolks with 3/4 cup of sugar on high speed until they turn pale yellow (about 2 minutes). Add in 1/3 cup of milk and 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, beat the egg whites on high speed until soft peaks form (around 1 minute). Gradually add in the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar while continuing to beat until the egg whites are stiff but not dry (about 1 minute).
  5. Combine the egg yolk mixture with the flour mixture, gently using a spatula. Then, carefully fold in the egg white mixture until just blended. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing out the surface, and bake for 30-35 minutes at 350°F until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Notes

For best results, ensure the eggs are at room temperature before starting the recipe.
You can garnish with your choice of berries for added flavor and visual appeal.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three days.
