Description

These Mexican Inspired Brownies are a delightful twist on classic brownies, combining rich chocolate with a hint of spice from cayenne and cinnamon. Perfect for dessert lovers looking for an easy and flavorful treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz baking chocolate
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by lining it with foil and spraying it with cooking spray.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the baking chocolate and butter. Heat on HIGH for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until the chocolate is smooth. Stir in sugar until well combined.
  3. In the bowl, add eggs, vanilla, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, ¾ teaspoon of cayenne pepper, salt, and 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Mix well until combined.
  4. Gently fold in the flour and mini chocolate chips until the mixture is just combined.
  5. Spread the brownie batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs.
  6. Allow the brownies to cool completely before slicing into squares. For the topping, whisk together powdered sugar, ¼ teaspoon of cocoa, ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Sprinkle over the sliced brownies.

Notes

Ensure the brownies cool completely for easier slicing.
Adjust the cayenne pepper to your taste for a spicier or milder flavor.
Store leftover brownies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
