Description

Hamburger Hash combines ground beef, potatoes, and cheese into a delightful comfort dish. Easy to prepare and bursting with flavor, it’s the perfect choice for a quick dinner or family meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium russet potatoes peeled and 1/2-inch diced
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium white onion diced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 2½ cups freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed potatoes in a pot of salted water and boil for 5–7 minutes until fork-tender. Drain thoroughly and let them steam-dry.
  2. In a large non-stick skillet over high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and no pink remains. Drain excess fat and set the beef aside.
  3. In the same skillet over medium heat, fry the vegetable oil, diced onion, par-boiled potatoes, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, salt, and pepper for about 5 minutes until potatoes have golden-brown edges and onions are translucent.
  4. Add the cooked beef back into the skillet and stir well. Sprinkle the cheese over the mixture and stir constantly until melted and combined.
  5. Remove from heat and serve hot.

Notes

Feel free to substitute ground turkey for a leaner option.
Add bell peppers for a pop of color and flavor.
This dish can easily be made in advance and reheated for later use.
