Description

Make mornings brighter with Fluffy Whole Wheat Waffles. These delicious waffles boast a perfect blend of whole wheat flour, buttermilk, and spices for a wholesome breakfast that’s easy to prepare and simply irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (260g) whole wheat flour, spooned & leveled
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons (25g) packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 and 3/4 cups (420g/ml) buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the waffle maker on medium-high heat and the oven to 200°F (93°C). Prepare a wire rack on a baking sheet for the cooked waffles.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, and brown sugar. Mix in buttermilk and vanilla until fully combined. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently whisk until just combined; it's okay to have small lumps.
  4. Grease the preheated waffle maker with nonstick spray. Pour approximately 1/3 cup of the batter into each well of the waffle maker. Cook for about 4–5 minutes or per your waffle maker's instructions. Transfer cooked waffles to the wire rack in the oven to keep warm while cooking the rest.
  5. Serve the waffles right away with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Ensure that the butter is cooled slightly before mixing to avoid cooking the eggs.
Feel free to add your favorite toppings such as fresh fruits, syrup, or yogurt for extra flavor.
The batter is best used fresh; however, it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
