Ingredients
Scale
- 4 to 6 boneless or bone-in pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
- 2 large apples, cored and sliced (granny smith or honeycrisp work well)
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 cup apple juice or apple cider
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Spread the sliced apples and onions in an even layer at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Place the pork chops on top of the apple and onion mixture.
- In a bowl, combine the apple juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon, then pour it over the pork chops.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours until the pork is tender and fully cooked.
- To thicken the sauce, remove the pork chops, mix cornstarch with water, and stir it into the cooking liquid. Cook on high for about 5 minutes until thickened.
- Serve the pork chops with the apples and onions, drizzling the sauce over the top as desired.
Notes
For a different flavor, try using a mix of apple varieties.
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to retain tenderness.
Serve with mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.
