Description

This Chewy Gooey Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie is irresistibly delicious. Combining rich flavors from chocolate chips and a soft, chewy texture, it’s the perfect treat for quick gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 10 ounces chocolate chips, milk or semi-sweet, your choice!
  • flaked salt, for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Heat a 12-inch oven-safe skillet (preferably cast iron) over low heat for 5 minutes. Melt the butter in it, then mix in the sugars with a wooden spoon. Turn off the heat or remove the skillet from the burner.
  • Whisk the egg and egg yolks together in a bowl and promptly add to the skillet, mixing to avoid cooking the eggs. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Incorporate the dry ingredients until just combined; this will take a bit of time as the mixture will be thick. Clean the skillet sides if necessary with a damp paper towel.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips, then bake for 20 to 25 minutes until mostly set in the center. Sprinkle with flaked sea salt.
  • Serve warm, ideally topped with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Ensure the skillet is cast iron for the best heat distribution.
Adjust the baking time to avoid overcooking; the center should remain slightly soft.
