Description

These Brown Butter Brownies hold an irresistible flavor with a simple prep process. Made with premium ingredients like unsalted butter and cocoa, they are perfect for gatherings or a sweet night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 3 TBSP Dry milk powder
  • 1 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder (sifted)
  • 3/4 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 TBSP Cornstarch
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup White granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup Powdered sugar
  • 3 Large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 Egg yolk (room temperature)
  • 2 TBSP Oil (canola or vegetable)
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a large frying pan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter while stirring occasionally. It will bubble and become foamy before browning. When foamy, add the milk powder and continue stirring until the butter turns amber in color.
  2. Add the sifted cocoa powder to the butter mixture and heat for 30 seconds. Pour the mixture into a bowl and freeze for 15 minutes to cool.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350℉. Spray a 9×9 inch square pan with nonstick spray and line the bottom and two sides with parchment paper. Spray again.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, and salt, setting the mixture aside.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, beat the granulated sugar, powdered sugar, eggs, and egg yolk on high speed for 3 minutes using a mixer.
  6. Remove the mixer and add the cooled butter, oil, and vanilla. Mix with a spatula. Incorporate the dry ingredients until just combined and then fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 34-36 minutes until the edges are set but the middle is slightly underdone; it will finish baking as it cools.
  8. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a cooling rack. Once cooled, remove from the pan and cut into 16 squares.

Notes

For a more intense chocolate flavor, consider using dark cocoa powder.
Ensure the eggs are at room temperature for best mixing results.
Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
